| Tony Marra - Key Grip |
Like a lot of people in the film industry, Tony Marra has an interesting story
about how he broke into the business. He began his career as a musician, playing guitar for local bands such as
The Plugs in his native Detroit. From there, Tony took the opportunity to become a lighting director for live music
concerts. The experience he gained lighting for the stage led him to lighting
for low-budget feature films shot in the Detroit area. Tony worked both as
a gaffer and as a key grip on many local projects within the the small scale film community
of Detroit. In 1984, he moved to Los
Angeles, choosing to work solely as a key grip. Tony was working on the HBO
film, Curiosity Kills, in 1988 when he met Mike
Fahey, who was to become his business
partner.
